Method
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper to create a flavorful marinade.
- Toss the tofu cubes in the marinade, ensuring each piece is coated well, then let sit for 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- In a separate shallow dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.
- Remove the tofu cubes from the marinade, letting excess drip off, then roll each piece in the breadcrumbs until thoroughly coated.
- Arrange the coated tofu nuggets on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, leaving space between each piece.
- Brush the tofu nuggets lightly with olive oil to promote crispiness and even browning.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the nuggets are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly; they will crisp up a bit more as they rest.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or add to salads and bowls for a crunchy protein boost.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a dash of hot sauce to the marinade or sprinkle some sesame seeds on top before baking.
