Ingredients

  • 14 ounces firm tofu pressed and cubed
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce for marinade
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or hot sauce adjust to heat preference
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika adds smoky flavor
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for coating

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Silicone brush

Method

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sriracha, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and olive oil until well combined.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the bowl and toss gently to coat each piece evenly with the spicy marinade.
  4. Let the tofu marinate for at least 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  6. Arrange the marinated tofu cubes on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they aren’t touching too much for even crisping.
  7. Bake the tofu for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the tofu from the oven and let it cool slightly; it will become crunchier as it cools.
  9. Serve the spicy roasted tofu hot, garnished with fresh herbs or a squeeze of lime if desired.

Notes

For extra crunch, toss the baked tofu in a little cornstarch before baking. Adjust spice levels by increasing or decreasing sriracha.
